Visit www.fakeipod.co.uk to learn about an eBay.co.uk seller who delivered a counterfeit Apple iPod Nano (see photo below). The ‘Fake iPod Nano’ site provides details of the fake product and how the buyer is still out of pocket to this day, although most of the costs incurred by the buyer have been refunded.
The www.missingipod.co.uk site has served its initial purpose. Unfortunately, the iPod that went missing while in the care of Apple, and its subcontractor UPS, was never recovered. However, an appropriate replacement and associated compensation (a second iPod) were received from Apple. Consequently, there is no reason to maintain the web site.
We also managed to raise £225 for Comic Relief by donating the compensatory iPod for sale in one of the Red Nose Day 2007 special celebrity auctions.
If anyone has an interest in purchasing the domain, please email postmaster@missingipod.co.uk.
The three celebrity iPod auctions on Comic Relief’s eBay shop have ended, resulting in a total of £631 for the charity’s Red Nose Day 2007 fundraising campaign.
- David Walliams’s iPod Nano : £245
- www.missingipod.co.uk iPod Nano : £225
- Alan B’Stard’s (The New Stateman’s) iPod Nano : £161
The auction for the silver iPod Nano 4 Gb that we donated to the Comic Relief National Fundraising Team has ended. The highest bid was for £225. A big thankyou to eBay user ‘5833alexandra‘!
Please note that several of the Comic Relief celebrity auctions in the special Red Nose Day 2007 eBay store are still ‘live’, so there is still a chance to bid and help raise money for the charity. For example, you could bid to win the Apple iPod Nano donated by David Walliams, co-star of ’Little Britain’ and celebrated cross-Channel swimmer. This iPod contains a set of twelve tracks that has been specially selected by David.
All funds raised by the Comic Relief Celebrity Auctions go towards charitable causes in Africa and the UK.
As expected, the iPod being auctioned by the Little Britain star has overtaken ours in the Comic Relief special celebrity auctions on eBay.co.uk. Still, there’s not much in it, £230 for David’s versus £225 for ours.
Go on! Please help raise money for Red Nose Day 2007 by submitting higher bids for the iPods or any of the other celebrity auctions.
Good news! Bidding has reached £205 on our donated iPod Nano that the Comic Relief charity is auctioning for Red Nose Day 2007. Surprisingly, it is currently outperforming the other iPods on auction, including the one donated by David Walliams’s from the Little Britain TV show. The auction for the brand new, silver Apple iPod Nano 4 Gb has hit £165 after one and half days (The auction was launched on the eve of Red Nose Day 2007). This is pretty good as the corresponding Apple UK store price is £129. You can find details of the auction for the iPod and other celebrity items in the official Comic Relief eBay store. Hopefully the iPod will get even more bids in the five and half days that the auction has left to run. A few comedians, including David Walliams of Little Britain and cross-channel swimming fame, have offered similar iPods for auction with the added bonus of some of their favourite tracks being pre-loaded. If you’re looking for an Apple iPod for yourself or a friend please consider bidding on one of these auctions. All proceeds go towards charitable activities in Africa and the UK.

The brand new, silver Apple iPod Nano is now available as one of the Special Auctions that Comic Relief has listed on its shop on eBay.co.uk. 100% of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to the Comic Relief charity. With Red Nose Day 2007 only a day away, why not get bidding to help raise lots and lots of dosh to help children in Africa and the UK. Alternatively, have a look at some of the other celebrity items on the Comic Relief eBay store.
The iPod that was received as compensation from Apple has now arrived safely at the Comic Relief fundraising headquarters in London. It should appear with other Comic Relief items on eBay shortly. When it’s available, a link to the auction will be posted on this site. Hopefully the iPod will raise a reasonable amount for the charity.
